ORGANISATIONS ACCESSING MEALS THROUGH ‘THE HUB’

Newcastle Meals on Wheels has had a place in the hearts and homes of Novocastrians for the past 60 years.

For us it all began here in Newcastle in 1963…. Reverend Donald Bailey introduced the service by starting a caring group known as the Newcastle Meals on Wheels Fellowship which began deliveries to seven elderly people.

Since then every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the past 58 years, a friendly smile, a chat about the weather, a nutritious meal and the knowledge that someone will drop by to say hello has changed the lives of many Novocastrians. And we are proud to be continuing their legacy.
Newcastle Meals on Wheels has come a long way since those humble beginnings in Brown Street Congregational Church, Newcastle and we now boast a state of the art Catering Centre, ten Meals on Wheels branches, a Social Support program and a Distribution Centre that provides meals to services throughout the Hunter region.

We are proudly the largest Meals on Wheels service in NSW – catering to over 1000 clients from our 9 branches

Why Choose Newcastle
Meals on Wheels?

Newcastle Meals on Wheels is not just about delivering nutritious meals and giving you access to a wide range of quality social services…

We enable frail older people and younger people with disabilities and their carers to remain in their own homes and enjoy a level of independence and style of living to suit their individual needs.

While aged care or other support may be needed later, Meals on Wheels provides a way for people to stay in the comfort of a familiar home environment for as long as possible.

We welcome you into a friendly and caring community filled with dedicated staff and volunteers, and provide you with the opportunity to meet people who share an interest in maintaining an independent and social lifestyle.
