Our Supporters: 2020
2020 was a year of great challenges as well as a year to establish many community partnerships: Through grant success, kind donations and selfless acts of corporate volunteering, We are forever grateful for the support throughout the year; In a year like no other, it really helped define that “We are all in this together”
Beyond Bank Our partnership began in August 2019, when Beyond Bank Glendale hosted “Cuppa for a Cause” on our behalf. When COVID-19 forced us to close our social support programs, Beyond Bank staff reached out to us offering to assist with making phone calls to our clients as part of our Hav A Chat program.
Harris Farm In March we were able to establish an amazing inter-community project with Harris Farm Cooks Hill. Each Day we received a pallet of produce, and with the help of many volunteers we were able to pack 60 produce boxes daily for the next 6 months. During this time we were able to deliver fresh fruit and vegetables to clients, volunteers, over 55 villages across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie & Port Stephens, and many other community organisations assisting the vulnerable population– including those supporting, DV, Homeless, Single Parents, and those who faced financial pressures due to COVID-19. To Harris Farm who kindly donated produce to help us deliver over 5500 individual produce boxes—and the general public who donated their time to volunteer each week to pack these boxes with us in a time of uncertainty– Thank You, you really helped define the “We are all in this Together”.
Orica Kooragang kindly donated safety vests for our Volunteers at Wallsend Meals on Wheels to assist with them to remain visible and safe when out delivering meals.
Reckitt Benckiser Kindly donated Glen 20 & Dettol Hand Sanitiser to assist our volunteers, clients and staff as part of their April 2020 TV advert campaign supporting Meals on Wheels.
Wangi Wangi Bakehouse with the help of local Toronto Clubs donated opened kegs to the bakery to create Beer Bread during the shutdown. Each week a different organisation received the sales from this bread, with the power of Tooheys Old – Toronto Meals on Wheels received $652 from sales.
Wests Group kindly donated to us 130 Easter Eggs that we were able to donate to our neighbouring Meals on Wheels branch at Belmont to deliver to their clients.
Woolworths partnered with Meals on Wheels NSW and kindly donated 2x 4pkt of Toilet Paper to each of our clients during the time when shelves were left bare due to panic buying.
YWAM Newcastle kindly donated their volunteers, staff, time and vehicles to assist with calling our Hav A Chat Clients as well as delivering Harris Farm Boxes across the region.
