What Does It Cost?

Over 65yrs/50yrs ATSI + Carers

Newcastle Meals on Wheels are available to those people funded by the Australian Government under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), and eligibility is determined by My Aged Care national entry point.

My Aged Care is the national entry point for those who require aged care services over the age of 65 years and 50 years for Indigenous Australians. www.myagedcare.gov.au or 1800200422. Your local branch can assist you in registering with My Aged Care whilst you access our service immediately. Once eligibility is determined by My Aged Care you will be assessed by the Australian Government’s Regional Assessment Services (RAS). During a RAS assessment you will be asked if you would like to nominate a specific organization to meet your needs, you are welcome to list your local Meals on Wheels branch as a ‘preferred service’ if you wish.

CHSP Client have access to our full fresh & frozen menus, with meals starting at $4.50 for small size & $6.00 for main size.

Meals on Wheels is are available to carers of older people or those who with a disability. The Carer Gateway is a new national website and phone number to help carers access information and advice and connect with services in their local area. It is the first stage of the Australian Government’s Integrated Plan for Carer Support Services. Carers can use the Carer Gateway online at www.carergateway.gov.au or by calling 1800 422 737 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm).

Home Care Packages (HCP)

Are you receiving assistance by way of a Home Care Package? Home Care Packages are designed to assist you to remain in your own home longer. You can access our service as part of your HCP funding. When you access Meals on Wheels through your HCP, you will only pay directly for the ‘food component’ of the meal. The packing, processing and delivery fee will be paid out of your Home Care Package. Having access to your Meals on Wheel service through your package is a great way to reduce your meal price. As a HCP client you will be charged $3.50, & $4.50 for large.

Your Plan can cover Light lunches, Mini Meals (Fresh & Frozen) & Main/Premium Meals (Fresh & Frozen), all other items (Breakfast, Soup, Snacks & Desserts) will be costed at menu price and will be paid by yourself. If you wish to order other items, you will be required to order at least one lunch, mini or main meal on those days of delivery.

Please contact your Home Care Provider and advise them that you wish to receive Newcastle Meals on Wheels through your package. Then ring your local branch to commence our service.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Meals on Wheels is also available to people with a disability through their NDIS packages. In order for you to commence receiving meals through your NDIS plan- one of our engagement coordinators will need to visit you to arrange a quote for your NDIS plan, for a service booking to be approved by your provider- this will be reviewed every 12 months. Once your quote has been approved by NDIS, your meal delivery will commence and you will pay a subsidised rate, with the remaining cost being covered through your NDIS plan. Please note in order for you to increase the number of meals you receive each week a new quote will need to be organised and approved.

This price tier is for those participants with an NDIS package as we are registered with NDIS we are able to be part of the package is core supports are included. As a client you will be charged for food costs with pricing starting at $3 per meal and the remainder is covered by NDIS- this will be outlined in your quote.

Private

Our meals are available to anyone. These are at a charged at a higher rater as they are not covered under the funding. They are the same great quality meals with the same options available just a different price bracket.
